Policies
of the Diocese of Reno Resource Center
Hours
of Operation:
The
Diocese of Reno Resource Center is open Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
unless otherwise noted.
Requirements
for Use:
Before
you are permitted to borrow material from the Resource Center you will be asked
to sign an agreement similar to the following:
I
agree to be responsible for all items borrowed from the Diocese of Reno Resource
Center in my name, including items borrowed by others with my consent.
I promise to comply with all library rules and policies both present and
future, and to give prompt notice of change of address, phone number or other
contact information.

There will be an annual
fee of $60.00 per parish or school for use of the Resource Center.
This fee will allow us to order new resources, as suggested by parishes
and the Pastoral Center, and are approved by the director. It will also allow us to keep the resources and the Center as
a whole in a suitable working condition.

There will be an annual
fee of $10.00 for individual borrowers.
·
A parish contact person
must be provided. This individual
will receive any notice for late fees or damages.
·
Failure to sign this
agreement will mean you will not be permitted to use the Resource Center.
·
Identification is
required. A driver's license or student ID is preferred, however, any other
official ID.
Loan
information:
1.
All material will be released for 3 weeks.
If material is being returned through the mail it must be postmarked by
the date due.
2.
Material may be renewed once if there is not a waiting list for the
title.
3.
Current issues of periodicals do not circulate.
4.
Non-current periodicals may be checked out for one week and may not be
renewed.
The
director may establish the loan period for special collections, materials which
are temporarily in great demand, such as for student projects, or materials
added to the collection which are in a new format, e.g., computer software.
There
is no limit on the number of items a patron can borrow at one time, with one
exception -- two items on a subject is the limit for a known school assignment.
Requests
to mail material:
Requests for material to be mailed need to be made by phone or e-mail. Material being mailed will be sent the day of, or day after the request has been received/read. If the requested material is not available notice will be given the day of the request and the borrowers name will be placed on the hold list. The Resource Center will pay for mail-outs, user pays return postage.

An
overdue notice will be mailed to the borrower the on the first day the material
is overdue. When the material is 30
days overdue a notice will be sent informing the borrower that their ability to
use the Resource Center will be suspended until the fine is paid and the
material is returned or replaced.
If
the material needs to be replaced, a bill will be sent for the material with the
cost of replacement of the material and a service charge for processing,
cataloging and postage. The
cost for replacing out of print resources will be based on the price of the
available equivalent.
Music:
Music pieces are numbered and broken into sets. Each set is checked out as a unit. Each set will be checked for completeness when it is checked in. If the set is missing pieces the borrower will be charged the replacement cost.
Diocesan
Conference Music Policy
Any music that has been newly purchased for the conference choir for that years performance may be purchased from the Conference.
Any music that has been checked out of the Diocesan Resource Center must be returned and is not to be sold.
All music that is turned over to the Diocesan Resource Center at the end of each years Conference becomes the property of the Resource Center, and well be governed by its policies.
Damaged
materials:
If
materials are damaged so as to be judged by the Resource Center as being
unsuitable for the collection, the patron must pay the replacement cost. A
notice of these charges will be sent to the borrower; a notice similar to the
following:
Dear____________________________
At
the time a patron borrows materials from Resource Center collection, the patron
assumes the responsibility for the care and timely return of the materials.
Recently materials checked out in your name were returned to the Resource Center
damaged beyond the point of being usable in the Resource Center’s collection.
The titles and costs of these materials are listed below:
