THE HISPANIC PRESENCE IN THE LIFE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN THE UNITED STATES.

Following the words of His Holines John Paul II in his Pastoral Letter “Nove Millennio Ineunte”, where he echoes the invitation of Jesus to the apostles “row out to sea”. These words invite us to remember with gratitude the past of the Hispanic ministry, to live with passion the challenges and opportunities of today, and be open to the future with confidence, in order to expand the vision and to respond to this presence in a diverse cultural context. 

Goals:

1.       To affirm the pastoral affords in the Hispanic Ministry from the National Plan for the Hispanic Ministry of 1987.

2.       To offer basic pastoral principles, priorities and suggested actions to continue efforts in the Hispanic Ministry, at the same time as the unity of our Local Church is fortified.

Workshops:

1.       Integrity rooted in the Spirit.

                         Presenter: Rev. Juan Torres Peregrina  

In this session we will consider some references of the Old Testament in relation to integrity. We will see how God instructs his people to live “in integrity of heart and in fairness of spirit” (1 Kings 9:40). Finally we will conclude with the message of Jesus for Christians today “Happy the clean of Heart” (Mt. 5:8). Integrity not only implies a clear attitude, but a moral purity that men today  are expecting  from us the believers, and that can only be rooted in the Spirit

2.       Anointed by the Spirit to build the Kingdom

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me and has anointed me to bring the good news (Lk. 4) Christians are already good news. We have been anointed by the Holy Spirit to transform life, to perform the same signs that he performed that demonstrate that the Kingdom of God begins to be built in history.
